No, not the movies with Vin DIesel or porn but a song my Soulhead. They are a Japanese duo and this song also features Koda Kumi. For some reason, this song made it into my K-pop playlist. I was listening to it a few days ago and had the display on lyrics. Man, this song has pages full of lyrics in English and Japanese. I don't know how you can understand the lyrics unless you are fluent in both. The English by itself doesn't even make much sense; maybe you need to combine it with the Japanese.

MV Reaction Vids

I've been noticing that when I look for K-pop music videos on YouTube, the search results include a lot of so called "reaction" videos. Basically they're videos of people watching music videos. These have to be the most ridiculous waste of bandwidth ever. I wish YouTube could tag these uploads so I can filter them out of my search results.

Maybe I should make a video of my reaction (of disgust) to watching one of these retarded reaction videos... how meta would that be!

Not sure what I'm ranting about? Go to YouTube and type in "aoa get out mv" in the search box. About 50% of the results are useless "reaction" videos. They're mostly fake (staged) anyway.

Fairies (J-pop)

I "found" this J-pop girl group on the avex Channel on YouTube. They sing and dance pretty well but are really really young... only 13-15 years old. When do they have time for school? I think K-pop has trainees that young but they usually debut their artists later. Maybe it's just a Japanese thing.

It looks like the code works but the only drawback is that I have to upload the MP3 file to tumblr, and they only let you upload one audio file per day.

Hmm... the song skips a bit every so often, yet appears to play fine on the tumblr site. Can't tell whether it's a buffering problem or if it doesn't like my unauthorized embedding/linking to another blog site.

Oops, it looks like it was an undergraduate degree in the College of Law at Aoyama Gakuin University. I don't think I've seen an undergraduate law degree here in the US; I thought you need a graduate degree (Juris Doctor) to be a practicing lawyer.

Anyway, I hope she keeps singing instead of practicing law since they don't make many videos of lawyers in action.

At least they don't have to compose new music... just translate the lyrics a bit. Since I'm used to the Korean version, the Japanese version sounds really strange, though I don't understand either. They should do a Chinese version too.

New Blog

I seem to only blog about three things: China, computers, and K-pop. Since I'm going to start uploading my current iPod playlist online, I'm moving C/J/K-pop MP3 posts to another blog so my 3 readers won't have to scroll through a bunch of K-pop songs.

Hmm, this one is even worse. The player only plays about 40 seconds of the song (or less). I read through some forum posts and I guess the embedded player is only playing a converted flash preview and not the entire MP3. Maybe the preview is generated dynamically and that's why the length varies each time. The MP3 player on the actual 4shared download pages appears to be okay though. Oh well...

Bypassing YouTube

Since I have two strikes on my YouTube account for TOS violation, and one of them from Avex, I'm going to try and upload this directly to Blogger. The quality is not as good since they limit you to 100MB. It's hard to encode videos to that size without sacrificing quality. I think YouTube allows uploads up to 2GB but only 10 minutes in length.

Here is another MV from miray. I'm not sure where I got this from; there are only snippets of the full MV on YouTube. Right now my music/performance video folder is ~170GB and contain ~2000 files, some dating back to 2002.

I don't know if the MV has anything to do with the song lyrics. The song title (激情) means "passion" in Japanese. Maybe the song is about these girls that break into a bar/nightclub, steal a bottle of champagne, and dance around nekked half-naked.

More YouTube Whining

Wow, I went back to check the K-pop videos I linked to YouTube and most of them were gone... all you see is the "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation" message. I started to find new links for some of the embedded videos but I gave up after five or six of them.

That sucks. Now how am I supposed to introduce my three readers to new C/J/K-pop songs and videos?!

YouTube Account Suspension

Oh well, one of my favorite sources for K-pop music videos and performances on YouTube was just suspended. I think she created 5 (or more) accounts and almost all of them have been suspended; there's only one left and it probably won't last either. That's too bad since she just started uploading videos in 1080p. I wish the "official" accounts would put up better quality videos.

Heh, I just checked and three videos in my YouTube account were taken down due to Avex Entertainment. I went through a lot of trouble to rip these MVs from a region 3 DVD. I'm not even sure how I did it now.

I heard you get three strikes before your account is suspended in YouTube. My first strike was an A-mei video from a DVD I bought in Taiwan. The Koda Kumi videos were strike two. Let's hope no one finds the "illegal" Cheer Chen uploads.

Jump Pump by miray

I've always seen this artist categorized as Reggae for some reason. Not sure why... her songs sounds like a lot of other J-pop/K-pop songs, with a bit more Latin percussion though. Oh well, at least she's a lot cuter than Bob Marley.

Koda Kumi (倖田來未) DVD's

After posting the 2009 KTMF videos last week, a lot of people subscribed to my YouTube channel so I feel pressured to upload some content. :)

I bought both her "Best" CD/DVD in Taiwan a few years ago. However, since the DVD's were encoded to Region 3, I've been only able to watch them on my DVD/Karaoke player; it plays almost every disc format known. I have been reluctant to change the DVD player on my personal computers away from Region 1 so I changed it on my work computer and ripped both DVD's. There were a total of 30 music videos. I downloaded a lot of her stuff before so now I have ~60 Koda Kumi MV's. She must be very busy.

I'm going to upload videos that I can't find on YouTube or if there are only low quality versions. I ripped everything at 720x480 @6000kbps so the actual files are ~250MB each and take forever to upload and process.
