Our CEO sent out a note about Google's new browser, Chrome, and how it's more like an operating system than just a browser. The implication is that since Chrome is open source and portable and can run applications, it may become a threat to Intel's monopoly on x86 compatible hardware and Microsoft's monopoly on OS. Here is a tutorial about Chrome from Google.
I've installed Chrome on 4 computers, mostly running XP but also my Sony VAIO running Vista. It is much faster than IE and Firefox (and Safari!) but we'll see if it stays fast with all the memory management and protected address space stuff mentioned in the tutorial. I know it's only a beta version but one problem I noticed is that it doesn't render Blogger pages properly, even though Google owns Blogger.
